Trump Nominee for Ambassador to Kenya, Kyle McCarter, Speaks On His Delayed Approval by US Senate

Kyle McCarter, the man nominated by President Donald Trump to be the next US Ambassador to Kenya has spoken about the delayed approval of his nomination by the senate.

McCarter says he remains patient even as a section of members of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee continue to block his confirmation, eight months after his nomination.

Trump nominated the former Illinois state Senator to replace ambassador Robert Godec, who has held the position in the last six years.

McCarter, 56, was vetted by the committee in July but the team is yet to submit a report on his nomination before the full senate.

“It’s a challenging process but you have to be patient.. It’s a great opportunity worth waiting for,” McCarter says.

McCarter says President Trump has not given him indications that his nomination would be revoked.

Democrats in the committee are opposed to McCarter’s nomination due to his stand on same-sex marriages and refugee policies of the Obama regime.

They have also taken issue with McCarter's tweet on the night Trump was declared the winner of presidential election, where he called for the imprisonment of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
