CS Margaret Kobia Feted in the US for Her Leadership in Public Service

Public Service, Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Prof. Margaret Kobia has been honored in the United States.
Prof. Kobia has been feted for her leadership in public service as well as her institutional and academic research in Kenya.
She was one of the eight distinguished international personalities recognized by the University of Illinois during the Distinguished Alumni and Young Alumni Achievements Awards at Illinois College of Education in Urbana Champaign.
The citation observes that Kobia has served and made contributions to national development in Kenya.
In her speech, Prof. Kobia has dedicated the award to hardworking public officers in Kenya.
“The recognition renews my energy to serve,” she says.
Prof. Kobia has also thanked President Kenyatta for appointing her to the Cabinet and believing in her leadership.
"I feel greatly honored to have received the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award from Illinois College of Education, my Alma Mater, in Chicago."
"The award was in recognition of my roles in public service leadership and in institutional and academic research in Kenya," states CS Kobia in a post on social media.
She graduated with a Ph.D. in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois in 2003.
CS Kobia served as the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission before her appointment to the Cabinet.
She also serves as an advisor to the United Nations Committee of Experts in Public Administration.
