[VIDEO] Car Slides Off Ferry in Mombasa, Sinks into the Indian Ocean

A vehicle slid off MV Harambee ferry and sunk into the Indian Ocean in Mombasa on Sunday evening.

Rescue operation for the occupants of the car was launched immediately after the 6.15 pm incident but was called off about an hour later due to darkness, Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) said.

The accident occurred after the Toyota ISIS car reversed and plunged into the ocean midstream, KFS said in a statement.

In videos shared on social media, commuters aboard the ferry could be seen watching helplessly as the car sunk into the ocean several meters from the vessel.

“The cause of the accident is still under investigations…Neither the car nor the occupants have been retrieved. The salvage operation has been called off because of darkness. The operations of the ferries has not affected by the incident,” the KFS statement read.

There were three occupants in the car including two female adults and a child, according to Kenya Red Cross Mombasa County Coordinator Mohamed Rajab Said.

come on call of operation after 1 hour instead of calling reinforcement from NAVY immediately a life could have been saved..come on disaster equipment flood lights divers etc should be permanently like 3 if not 5 professional divers in full gear all the time the ferry is in operation come on now..

Problem is safety is not a key thing in Kenya. Do they restrain the vehicles?
Kenya navy should have jumped into action immediately the call was made...
Kenya ferry services are under funded and don't have the resources needed.
Now, 3 lifes are lost..
It's shameful.

Sad! Sad! that the second biggest city in KENYA has no rescue plan in place. Joho, where are you? or you still busy with paris hilton, buree kabisa. We busy talking about 2022 yet what is at hand
is not important.

We are in the ember months, this explains the spate of mysterious deaths at the end of the year. Satanic agents are on the prowl desperately working to reach their human blood targets or else they risk punishment from the Devil. I am not deluded, those who are doing this know themselves, be TRULY saved and cover EVERY means of transport you use.
