2019 KCPE Results: Top Candidate Michael Munyiri Scores 440 Marks

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha on Monday released the results of the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Magoha announced the results after a meeting with President Kenyatta at State House, where he briefed him before the release.
CS Magoha announced Andy Michael Munyiri from Thogoto as the top candidate with 440 marks out of possible 500.
Three other candidates namely; Flavian Onyango, June Jeptoo and Sean Ndungu tied in the second position with 439 marks.
The number of candidates who scored 400 marks and above dropped from over 11,000 last year to 9,770 this year.
A total of 1,088,986 candidates sat for this year’s exams in October compared to last year's 1,052,364.
In the 2019 exams, students recorded improved performances in English, Kiswahili and Sign Language compared to last year, with female candidates dominating their male counterparts in languages.
The results were released at the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) headquarters in Nairobi.
“We did not see fake examination papers usually bought by parents. I want to say that our daughters and parents have succeeded in reducing teenage pregnancies,” said Magoha.
