Policeman Arrested after Kenyan University Student is Raped, Arm Chopped Off

A police officer has been arrested in connection with the rape of a 21-year-old Kibabii University student.

The student, who is receiving treatment at the Bungoma West Hospital in Kanduyi, was attacked and sexually abused by a lone assailant in the wee hours of Friday.

The third-year Bachelor of Science learner was attacked at around 5 am just 200 meters from her rented house in Kibabii, Bungoma Town. The attacker also chopped off one of her arms.

The student said she was heading to her house together with her friends after spending the night at a nightclub in Bungoma Town when the assailant confronted them. Her friends managed to escape, leaving her behind.

The suspect raped her and thereafter severed her left arm before tying the bleeding stem of the upper limb with barbed wire.

The victim’s arm was found hours later wrapped in her bra and thrown on the roof of a house in the neighborhood.

On Saturday, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Constable Eric Mutama, who is attached to Tuutu Administration Police Camp, was arrested in connection with the crime and will be arraigned in court next week.

The violence in Kenya is getting out of control. There is no leadership. This wouldn't happen in a civilized country.

When a policeman who is entrusted to protect the public commits a heinous crime like this one here,I dont see why we as a society should not cut off his testacles. In fact all rapists should face the same fate.
Yes there are some human beings such as this rapist who are not worth living is a civilized world. They only understand barbaric way of life. And as a society the best way to maintain civility is to eliminate these kind of individuals.Imprisoning these "animals" does not do justice to the victims.
This is terribly sickening. How can we claim to be independent and have freedom when we cannot walk at night because someone might accost, rob or rape us?There are many places in Kenya where you cannot not alight from a public transportation vehicle at night. These places are known, and instead of communities doing something, they simply avoid them. How can we live like this and claim that we are free?
Why do we tolerate these barbaric"animals" terrorize us?
Iam not naive to think that we can eliminate crime from our society.I wish we could. But surely nobody would argue against chopping off sexual organs of rapists,or hanging murders. If you do,put yourself in the victims' position, and give me an alternative to this punishment. My 2 cents.

This is what happens in an uncivilized society whose only value is materialism. We have totally lost it and the average Kenyan « leader » is an immature idiot

U can't hire idiots / stupid / failures / semi retarded people as police men and expect quality service from them. There is a reason reqe squad are hand picked. It's high time we start hiring folks with min of C as cops. Fire all the cops who can't pass basic test.
