Raila is the Greatest Enemy of Devolution, Ruto Says
Deputy President William Ruto has labeled ODM leader Raila Odinga an enemy of devolution.
Speaking in Makueni County on Wednesday, Ruto termed Odinga as the biggest threat to devolution, claiming that the ODM leader has been extorting some Governors by coercing them to loot funds from counties to fund his campaigns.
Ruto, who is seeking to succeed President Kenyatta, alleged that Odinga demands Sh20 million from each of the governors for the presidential campaigns.
“If someone can ask governors to loot county funds meant to help citizens, is it logical to have the same person be the one to protect devolution?” Ruto posed.
He challenged the governors to expose Odinga for extorting them, saying his actions have affected the provision of key services to the people.
He called on Ukambani residents to rally behind the ‘Kenya Kwanza’ alliance, saying that Odinga lacks a development track record and cannot be entrusted with the country’s leadership.
Ruto was accompanied by ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata, and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.
