Detectives Probing MP David Sankok Son's Death

Detectives in Narok are investigating the circumstances under which the son of nominated MP David Ole Sankok shot himself dead.

The 15-year-old boy, a Form Four student at Kericho High School, is said to have shot himself using his father’s firearm at their home in Ewuaso Ng'iro, Narok County on Monday evening.

Led by Narok DCI Director Mwenda Ethaiba, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited Sankok’s home on Tuesday morning as they seek to establish how the boy accessed his father’s pistol and the reasons behind the shooting.

Nation reports that the detectives also recorded statements from workers at Sankok's Osim Country Lodge, which is barely 100 meters from his residence.

Sub-County Police Commander Isaac Ogembo said the incident happened at 3:30 pm on Monday.

"It was reported that a juvenile aged 15 years and a son to nominated MP David Sankok had shot himself using the gun belonging to his father," he said.

The deceased body was found lying in a pool of blood with a gun beside it. Preliminary investigations indicate that the bullet entered through the chin and exited through the top of the head.
