President Uhuru Declares War on 'Tuma kwa Hii Namba' Syndicate

President Kenyatta has declared war on the new wave of digital crimes in Kenya in the wake of technological advancement.
Kenyatta, who spoke on Monday during the launch of the National Forensic Laboratory at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters, said the government will use the facility to clamp down on criminal networks that are using advanced technology to defraud Kenyans.
“As we aspire for a Kenya where every citizen, enterprise, and organization has digital access and the capacity to participate and thrive in the digital economy, a new wave of crime is equally emerging that involves such things as sim swapping and the typical ‘tuma kwa hii namba’ syndicate all of which we must deal with properly,” said Uhuru.
The president further directed the ICT and Interior ministries to within two weeks inform him on how the new forensic laboratory can be used to build the capacity of the DCI’s Cybercrime Unit which is tasked with handling digital crimes.
Kenyatta noted that the ultra-modern facility will help disrupt and establish criminal patterns through forensic laboratory techniques, crime scene techniques, documentation, and proper transportation of exhibits while maintaining the chain of custody as well as improving customs and border security.
“The forensic laboratory shall complement existing infrastructure while also meeting the first changing needs for both investigators as well as all stakeholders. The facility will provide an invaluable resource not just within the criminal justice sector but also to users in educational research, civil law, human science, and other fields,” he added.
The National Forensic Laboratory is expected to fast-track investigations of serious crimes including terrorism, murder, robbery with violence, cyber-crimes, rape, among others.
The DCI said that qualified detectives in various academic scientific fields such as Computer Science, Pure Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physics, and Information Technology have been deployed to the facility to offer their professional services in their respective areas of specialization.

Someone known to Uhuru or within his circle must have fallen victim of this digital swindling. There are are so many Kenyans dying out of hunger and up to this point has not attracted Uhurus attention . Common food prices has tripled in the last few months and has never attracted any concerns to Uhuru as this one has.
Looks like someone is sleeping on his job because such issues should not need a president to address.

WSR is the owner of “tuna kwa hii mamba” if you didn’t know. Unfortunately @asista could be the one managing the scam for Ruto because he has presiceibed to Ruto’s conmanship.

@asista - it’s not Uhuru’s job to feed every body in kenya. The tripling of food prices is a general world situation caused by a Miriam of factors. At least Uhuru is trying to subsidize the price of goods. You should be talking about Ruto who has been absent from his job in the past 5 years. Ruto is the one you need to advise on showing up to work.

While it is not the government’s responsibility to feed people, it has an obligation when it comes to people dying of hunger. Otherwise why would we pay tax’s and not expect a government to come when emergency situations call?
It’s a different ballgame in this situation. Uhuru has aided into the drastic increase of basic food prices in Kenya. The other East African nations are not facing what is ailing Kenya.
Just to remind you again that the person who has been absent from his work is Raila Omolo. He gets paid close to 300 every year as chief opposition party leader whose job is to check the government. Unfortunately his 4 year absence has has seen his hands in aiding of the falling economy. Ruto in the other hand has been traversing the country and while he has been posting himself in readiness for the elections has also done much by inspecting projects and hearing of peoples plight. He is the deputy president and therefore he gets extra work from the president. If the president failed to keep him busy then the bug stops at him!
