Machakos Governor Race: Petitioners Claim Wavinya Ndeti’s Computer Science Degree is Fake

Two voters have lodged a complaint before the IEBC Dispute Resolution Committee seeking to have Wavinya Ndeti barred from vying for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in the upcoming elections.

Gideon Ngewa and Kisilu Mutisya have questioned the validity of the academic qualifications of Wavinya, who is eyeing the Machakos governorship seat on a Wiper Party ticket. The two argue that the former Kathiani MP cannot vie for the seat because she does not hold a valid university degree.

"Ndeti is not a holder of a degree recognized in Kenya. On November 6, 1992 she was purportedly awarded a Masters degree in Business Systems Analysis and Design by the City University, London without having undertaken a first degree," said the complainants.

They added that on July 18th, 1995, Wavinya apparently obtained a degree (Bsc) in Computing Studies from South Bank University London.

"Undertaking a degree after being awarded a masters in a closely-related subject is equally problematic. The degree in Computing Studies awarded by South Bank University to Ms. Ndeti raises a number of issues," they added.

They further argue that the title of the degree is extremely uncommon to a point where it does not feature online as a course.

"Computer Science is the universal course title for this field of study. Indeed, the graduate Diploma awarded to Ms. Ndeti by South Bank Polytechnic London some five years earlier in 1990, was for Computer Science. It is very unlikely that the University would have changed the degree title to Computing Studies in a span of five years.”

But Wavinya’s lawyers Eunice Lumala and Ochieng Oginga told the committee that their client holds a recognized university degree which has been accepted by the Commission for University Education (CUE).

The committee is expected to deliver its ruling on the matter on Saturday.

Nowadays no trust anybody until otherwise proven out. I still doubt if even UoN, Kenyatta and others come out with true degrees where people were registered but never come to class or submitted assignments at all. More than like this are people like Joho, Sonko and Ruto and even Raila himself

Scrap this degree requirements . Even Uhuru did not graduate I have established. He was busy in Worcester MA kwa mtungi with 12 packs like all other Kenyans do in the US. Raila's mechanical engineering degree is nothing but "spanner boy certificate, majoring in " dismantling railways and swearing self even when you lose an election.Communist East Germany issued fake Russian degrees .Ruto was busy doing KANU errands instead of attending lectures . He used mwakenya in all exams and plagiarized most term papers. His only genuine paper was titled " Hawking kukus on raodside and ploti grabbing. So please Mr learned Chebukati do not not waste Kenyans time.Tunaka kampeini ianze bana.Acha drama za madegree...

Do the honorable thing and show you degree certificate and academic transcripts here on this forum. Kenya can’t afford corrupt politicians running for high office.

A college degree does not necessarily make anyone a good leader. All it stands for is that someone can read and write; whether he or she can apply that knowledge to solve problems is an entirely different story.

Please do not lie. Education in higher levels is very enlightening and it gives the holder wider and deeper knowledge to delve in deeper technical matters. That is something you may not know if you have never attended a degree program anywhere in this world. You sound very cheap.

Douglas, I might be cheap and probably never attended any university anywhere. However, you're proving my point. You and your college degrees do not seem to understand what I said. Comprehending and applying knowledge are 2 horses of a different color my "learned friend".

Even those with prestigious genuine degree like medicine or law do not do better than those with fake ones in Kenya politics.

So are you saying that set requirements shouldn’t be followed by those aspiring to get into politics? Your lame assumption leaves a lot to be desired. Why do Kenyans reason so shallow; most of the time?
