Kenyan Journalist Larry Madowo Lands a New Role at CNN

Kenyan journalist Larry Madowo is excited after landing a new role at CNN.
Madowo, who joined the giant American media house in May 2021 as its Nairobi-based correspondent before being promoted to an international correspondent, will now host the 'African Voices Changemakers', a show mainly focusing on newsmakers across the continent.
The show also hosts individuals who find ways to impact their communities and make cultural contributions.
Since joining the international network in 2021, he has covered a wide range of news stories around the globe, including flooding in Nigeria, and coronavirus vaccine inequality.
"He has also broadcasted from Expo 2020 in Dubai and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, reported from the World Economic Forum in Davos and anchored news shows from Atlanta," CNN said in a statement on its website.
Through social media on Tuesday, Madowo said the opportunity is surreal as he was first featured on the show in 2017 speaking about his work as a Kenyan journalist. His first show will air on February 25.
"Some personal professional news: my role at CNN is expanding. I’m the new host of African Voices Changemakers. I was featured on the show in 2017 so it’s surreal to be taking over Tell me your stories," he tweeted. "This is a full circle moment for me."
Madowo, who started his journalism career at Kenya Television Network (KTN) at the age of 20, previously worked for NTV Kenya, CNBC Africa, and BBC.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Daystar University and a master’s in Business and Economics Journalism from Columbia University in New York.

Good for him.
Now he can tell African stories , by an African.
Larry is among the journalists who like complaining about African stories not being told from the African perspective.
African perspective = Bitterness, anger & complaints.

Exactly, I do not even have cable TV. Exactly Youtubers and Instagram Africans are telling real stories. Larry is just an employee of a dying horse, nothing to be proud of. If he is great, start your own channel and he could quadruple what he is getting paid by Mzungu but as we know some people love to be associated with certain people...I digress

YouTubers like jobless Mumbi Seraki & Apostles(Pastors) who give political prophecies only, are embarrassing Africans.
Nairobi Con men & women are full on YouTube using religion & spirituality to deceive people & calling their lies , spiritual revelations.
Mumbi Seraki for example should let the dead ,Ancestors, rest in peace. Kikuyus are not from Egypt. That woman is a shameless liar .

Seraki is a serious doom false prophets possessed of devils. Wode Maya markets Africa right. Most YouTubers just need a bit of training. Lots of Nigerians have flooded Nairobi making vids. I don't care much for women tubers.

I hope he will have balls to champion for coverage of Africa without the usual pathological states of wars, election chaos, mama pimas, night runners in Kisii County, poverty, and diseases the Western media loves regarding people of color.

CNN is so professional in its way of doing business that a prodigal journalist like Midiyo or Madoyo cant last for long, from my own experience. It favors result-oriented characters, who talk less, but produce more. CNN will tolerate a proud and mouthie character like Madoyo. He should humble himself and not allow himself to be looked jittery by mostly white management. But its a good place to work.

No one watches CNN. That being said, I hope he talks to Jeff koinange to get the low down. The higher you go the more you’re perceived as a “threat”.
