President Ruto Picks Former MP Shadrack Mose for the Solicitor General Post

President Ruto has nominated former Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose to the position of Solicitor General pending approval from the National Assembly.
In a letter addressed to the National Assembly, the president pleaded with the House to consider Mose’s nomination on a “priority basis.”
"In recognition of the unique role of the State Law Office in our Governance structure, and mindful of the mandate of the Solicitor General as the Deputy to the Principal Legal Adviser to the Government, the National Assembly is most kindly requested to consider the nomination on a priority basis," the letter reads in part.
Ruto said the nomination is in accordance with the Office of the Attorney-General Act and the Public Appointments, Parliamentary Approval, Act.
Mose was picked from a list of eight candidates who were shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) in November last year.
If the National Assembly approves Mose's nomination, he will replace Ken Ogeto who was appointed to the position by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Solicitor General serves as the accounting officer for the State Law Office and the Department of Justice, both of which are currently led by Attorney General Justin Muturi.
Mose, who served in the 12th Parliament as a Jubilee Party MP, unsuccessfully defended his Kitutu Masaba parliamentary seat in the 2022 general election on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA ticket.
Mose is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 29 years of experience in legal practice. He is currently the Managing Partner at M/S Mose, Mose, and Mose Advocates.
He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law and a Law Degree from the University of Nairobi.
