Seven Suspects Arrested With Sh96.3 Million Cocaine in Nairobi

Seven suspects, including two Indian and Pakistani nationals, were arrested by the police with cocaine worth Sh96.3 million recovered from them in Nairobi.
Additionally, 1.2 tons of ketamine valued at Sh 25 million were also recovered, as reported by the police. the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin termed the arrest and the recovery a huge success in the war against drug trafficking and consumption. He further informed that the cocaine weighed 24 kilograms and was disguised as avocados when the shipment was intercepted near Wangari Maathai Road on June 17th. The cargo was destined for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to be flown away from the country.
Police officers from the Anti Narcotics Unit had been tipped off about the issue. They afterwards intercepted afterwards car with two occupants and conducted a search. This led to the seizure of 69 cartons, with 23 of them having white powdery substances in them, believed to be narcotic drugs. This prompted the officers to proceed to the suspects' residence in Nairobi where they recovered 46 drums filled with white powdery substances packed in clear polythene bags. 55 more packages containing the same type of substance were also discovered in the house, according to the police.
The investigation proceeded further, resulting in the discovery of 133 sacks each weighing 25 kilograms. The sacks were taken to the DCI Forensic Laboratory to be tested in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act 1994. The analysis revealed that the seized substances were cocaine and ketamine. Police have declared the house where the narcotics were found a crime scene. Meanwhile, detectives are trying to identify the source of the drugs, implying they had been brought to Nairobi to be repackaged before being sent elsewhere.
