Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has issued a strong rebuke to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, criticizing his continued attacks against the government and asserting that Kenyans are unlikely to heed his remarks.
Mudavadi reaffirms the government's commitment to its agenda, emphasizing that it will remain unfazed by Gachagua's criticisms. Highlighting Gachagua's impeachment, Mudavadi mentions that he is ineligible to vie for elective office or hold any public position. In his address, Mudavadi urges citizens to concentrate on national development and disregard Gachagua's disparaging comments. He stresses the need to move forward and support President William Ruto's vision for Kenya's progress.
"We do not want to be misled by someone who is roaming yet can no longer occupy any public office in the country. Kenya is not there to listen to you mourning every other day. We must move and we must develop the country, and that is where President William Ruto is taking us" Mudavadi remarks.
Gachagua, who faced impeachment last October, continues to critique the current government while holding sway in national politics as the country looks toward the 2027 elections. His associates have confirmed that he is planning to launch a new political party soon, aiming to sponsor candidates under its banner.
Embakasi North MP James Gakuya indicates that Gachagua's new political platform will be introduced in the upcoming weeks, with promises to reshape Kenya's political landscape. During a recent church service in Laikipia County, Gachagua announced that he would unveil the party next month. Yesterday, Gachagu convened a significant meeting with Maa community leaders at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, continuing his series of strategic political engagements ahead of the anticipated party launch in February.
During the daylong consultation, Gachagua engaged with prominent figures from Kajiado and Narok counties to address national concerns and community-specific issues. Notable attendees included Members of Parliament Onesmus Ngogoyo, Daniel Kanchori, Joshua Olowuasa, Martin Olekamwaro, and Moses Birisha, alongside several ward representatives and community elders. Speaking after the gathering, Gachagua emphasized the importance of unified national progress.
This meeting follows Gachagua's recent engagement with Kajiado West elders on January 8, where discussions centred on historical ties between the Maa and Mt Kenya communities. Just a day earlier, he had hosted the Kikuyu Council of Elders to discuss community priorities and political direction for 2025.
