Officials Warn Against Exam Malpractice as KCSE Begins

Trans Nzoia County officials have pledged to maintain strict security and support for candidates during the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at St. Mark’s Cherang’ani Boys High School, County Commissioner Gidion Oyagi announced that all examination materials had been received and placed under tight security. He said that the government had implemented rigorous measures to ensure a fair and safe testing environment, stressing that any attempt to compromise the process would lead to severe penalties.
The Commissioner emphasised that authorities were determined to uphold the integrity of the national exams, which mark a decisive stage in students’ education. He warned teachers, students and parents against engaging in malpractice, including unauthorised access to examination papers, and reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy on cheating.
Oyagi also highlighted growing concerns over teenage pregnancies and early marriages in the county, noting that some girls would be unable to sit their exams as a result. He described the issue as a community-wide problem that demands collective action.
He urged parents, local leaders and law enforcement to work together to protect vulnerable children and to report any cases of abuse or exploitation. He also called on school administrators and teachers to offer strong academic and emotional support to candidates as they prepare for the exams.
