Raila: I Won't Run for Presidency Again

Opposition chief Raila Odinga has ruled out contesting for the presidency again following defeat to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Uhuru was declared the winner on Friday after garnering 8.2 million votes (54 percent), while Raila got 6.8 million votes (44 percent).

Raila has declined to concede and called for a work boycott on Monday as he waits to make a major announcement on the way forward on Tuesday.

"I’m not going to be a candidate again,” he said. “We just want Kenyans to know what happened, what the whole world is not understanding is happening.” Raila said in an interview with Financial Times on Sunday.

This was his fourth shot at the country's top seat after unsuccessfully contesting in 1997, 2007 and 2013 elections.

"It is not about me. It’s not about Raila Odinga," he said. "...there’s no point in people going to elections in the future, queuing for hours to vote or running around for months campaigning. At the end of the day it’s the computer in the national tallying centre that’s making the decisions."

“We will show the kind of charade the whole world has been treated to," he said adding the United Nations should audit the election result.

He also said: “With the experience of what happened to Chris Msando they were very frightened."

My friend, you are completely toast; totally irrelevant in Kenya's landscape. When did the United Nations ever audit an election? Keep on dreaming brother. I think what you should be saying to us is: I RETIRE.

Retire in peace Raila. You will be remembered for 82 coup, multiparty saba saba, 2007/08 killing of 1300 people, and 4 failed presidential contest

Im not naive, this man can't fool me. He can't stay away for long mark my words. Come 2021, he is making a comeback 'due to public demand' like he's Jay Z or something.
But we'll be right here to send him back retirement. He might give it one last try in 2027 at 82 yrs of age like his father did in 1992. But again, we'll be right here.

Bwana Odinga- Why do you have to Manipulate the Poor people in Kibera & Kisumu? What have you done for them? Have you even removed a Penny from your own pocket & even feed the hungry? You live in the Most Wealthy Place in Kenya-Karen. The Kenyans you are inciting are living in Slums.

Is this fair?

You ask them to boycott work. Yet you are not going to feed them! Nor are you going to re-instate their jobs back if they loose them.

I don't have a 1% of your wealth, yet I support people in my Community! Just move on, concede and Stop using Poor people for your own benefit.

Mr. President Can you please stop giving Mr. Raila the stage by acknowledging or even making him remotely think he has anything to present to court. He has lost in so many occasions and his argument is always the same that he has been rigged out. Asiye kubali kushindwa si mshindani. You said you would retire if Mr.Sonko won; it's time you do all of us a favor and honor those words, unless again it's another kitendawili according to you to your supporters. Mr. Raila if you want to be remembered for anything, this is the time you throw in the white flag and accept that Kenya will move on with you not ever becoming it's president and stop embarrassing yourself. Retire from Politics.
