PS Lillian Omollo, NYS Boss Richard Ndubai Deny Fraud Charges in Sh9 Billion Scam

Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Lillian Omollo and National Youth Service (NYS) Director-General Richard Ndubai have pleaded not guilty to charges leveled against them over the Sh9 billion scandal at the NYS.

The two were brought before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti on Tuesday afternoon where they were charged with abuse of office, fraud among other charges.

31other suspects in the NYS scam were charged alongside Omollo and Ndubai where they also pleaded not guilty to several graft charges including conspiracy to commit an economic crime.

The prosecution pleaded with the court to adjourn the case to Wednesday citing security concerns, but the magistrate declined .

“If adjourned the accused will stay in custody for the third day with no fault of their own. We will proceed to the conclusion of the motions. I’m aware that security has been beefed up in this premises we are operating from and that security should not be an issue. Any part seeking for a health break including the court shall communicate accordingly. So we shall proceed,” ruled the judge.

The suspects were represented in court by a number of lawyers including Cliff Ombeta, Gachie Mwanza, Kihanga Mwangi, Getange Tom, Sam Ogutu and Miguos Ogamba.

These guys don't even look scared. It is because they know this is all a joke nothing will happen to them. Soon they will be out on bail and that is the last we will see them being paraded like goats. What a joke, absolutely no faith with the justice system.

Only fools would expect them not to deny fraud. Accountability begins at the top; therefore, they are guilty of the counts as charged. To set example, they court ought to subject them the public lynching; similar to the one subjected to chicken thieves. The wrath of the Kenyan taxpayer must be communicated thus for the message to sink into those who steal public property.

I am not sure of what significance
the name Muthoni is. Is it tribal reasoning you can't get over? In any case, Omollo sat his behind on the couch as his darling Muthoni went on a looting spree and never raised a sound to say Luos do not steal. OMOLLO is NOT innocent and should be behind the docket at least holding the darling's hand. I can only hope he will not be marrying Akinyi and living happily ever after given the loot after Muthoni changes residence(hopefully) to Kamiti.

@Sifuna.The names do really matter to you, not the crime ? Exactly the problem with Kenyans. The day fools like you realise that they are robbing from us all only then shall we be able to clean and safe Kenya.

Keep a close eye on these cases. I can bet you money that none of the principals will ever see the inside of a prison. Corrupt justice system will be corrupted as usual. These guys don't seem to be worried since the know very well that Kenyan justice is for sale. Until the wananchi say enough is enough it will be business as usual with all these corrupt government employees. Wananchi wake up from your long sleep. Every government employee should be forced to account for their wealth.
