Airgate Shopping Complex in Nairobi to be Demolished this Week

Nairobi's Airgate Center, formerly Taj Mall is set to be demolished this week as the crackdown on illegal structures within the city continues.

Julius Wanjau, the Nairobi Regeneration committee head of operations confirmed the demolition of the shopping complex following the expiry of the 14-day notice issued to its owner.

Wanjau said the flattening of Airgate Mall will begin immediately the team completes the ongoing demolition of South End Mall, which is in its final stages.

“We are still doing South End Mall and we are hopeful to clear it before next week. We have given the owners ample time to comply with the notice before we move in starting next week. The demolition of Airgate will take place anytime within the week but we will communicate on the same,” Wanjau told Nairobi News.

Airgate's owner, billionaire businessman Rameshchandra Govino Gorasia has maintained that the six-floor building does not sit on a road reserve as alleged by government authorities.

“For us it is business as usual as we are continuing with our business. We are still operational and we have not even moved our offices,” Amos Mogire, the manager of building, said.

We will believe when we see it.
Mlevi na Mwizi are just liars.

Kenyans must go to the streets.VAT 16% is a BIG NOOOO!

We know the thieves who stole Eurobond , NYS and SGR money.they need to pay IMF,World Bank and Chinese.

Kenyans cannot be taxed to pay stolen money. We did not steal the money.Let the government officials and their relathieves who stole refund the money.

The stolen money should be recovered before anyone can tell Kenyans anything about taxing Kenyans to death.
