Catholic Bishop Gives Away Sh4 Million Car Gifted to Him by Deputy President William Ruto

Kisumu Archbishop Philip Anyolo says he has donated a luxury car gifted to him by Deputy President William Ruto a few weeks ago.

Speaking to Citizen TV, the clergyman says he didn't need the Sh4 million Mitsubishi Pajero 2012 model and has given it away to another institution that needs it more than he does.

Bishop Anyolo explains that by the time Ruto gifted him the vehicle, he already had a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser V8 given to him by Catholic believers.

“The institution where I donated the Pajero is free to sell the vehicle and use proceeds from the sale to better the society," he states.

Ruto gifted Anyolo the high-end car during his installation as Kisumu Archbishop at Uzima College Grounds on January 12th.

While handing over the car, Ruto said the gift was from himself and President Kenyatta.

Anyolo was appointed as Archbishop of Kisumu by Pope Francis in November last year.

These revelations come after Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday claimed that Pope Francis ordered Archbishop Anyolo’s team to return the vehicle to Ruto.

“Public funds are being looted daily yet poor Kenyans are suffering. Every day, the prices of commodities are rising while graft perpetrators, who are known to the public, run to churches with stolen money."

“Recently, during the installation of Archbishop of Catholic Diocese of Kisumu, someone took a vehicle to the bishop as a gift. When the Pope was informed that the Archbishop had received a car gift, he [Pope Francis] ordered that the vehicle is returned. And, true to his instruction, the car was returned because it was acquired from proceeds of corruption," claims Odinga.

“We know where that person stays, what he earns and what his wife earns. Where does he get the millions of shillings that he dishes out in churches? A time has come when every corrupt person should carry his own cross,” adds Raila.

However, Archbishop Anyolo has denied Odinga's claims that he received instructions from the Pope to return the car.

If these kids have no parents,or relatives to help, then it falls squarely on the society to take care of them.
Iknow this is debatable, but I strongly believe that if Jesus were here today, he would not be riding around in his new vehicle while his children are in destitute. Certainly the church cannot do it all,but when the church leaders who are supposed to follow the example of son of Mary, are wallowing in luxury, one would wonder if they are serving themselves or serving the flock.
If all the bourgeoisie in Kenya adopted at least 1 child like Sonko, and afew have done, the problem with treat kids would be drastically reduced. All they need is an opportunity,a shoulder to lean on, in life.Short of this adoption notion, the government can build a rehabilitative center,or school for these kids in every county. These can only happen if we use if we spend wisely,on well thoughtout projects. With all these PhDs in Kenya this should not be hard to figure out...

This is very heartbreaking especially in a country where there are gazillion so called churches which are supposedly emulating jesus- living a simple homeless life and "driving" a donkey. Today's priests and pastors own Jets, drive high end cars and own different homes led by the likes of Kiuna and the other one who wears wigs, fake nails with lots of lip stick. Then recently this pastor who has been a community husband has abandoned his twins with mpango wa kando. You would think he would wear a sock but the bible does not teach about condoms. Time to upgrade that book in this Me-Too era.

The catholic church in Kenya is the second most corrupt institution after Jubile-ODM post handshake alliance. Why did the bishop accept the the donated car and money from questionable sources. Why did he offer a thief a platform to sanitize his looting? Shetani ashindwe!

Why accept it in the first place and give it out shortly after? Should have asked DP to donate directly to the needy organization.

Corrupt politicians, corrupt clerics, corrupt judiciary, corrupt country. We need to start all over again. Get rid of all these conmen by giving them a one way ticket to retirement. We need fresh blood. Everyone should account for their wealth.
