Mama Sarah Obama Admitted to Hospital

Mama Sarah Obama has been admitted to Siaya County Referral Hospital.

Sarah, who is the grandmother to the former United States President Barack Obama, was hospitalized on Wednesday after falling ill at her home in K'ogello.

Siaya Health chief officer Samwel Omondi confirmed the 97-year-old's admission but declined to reveal her health problem. 

"It is true that Mama Sarah is at Siaya Referral Hospital where she was taken after falling ill at her home. However, we cannot divulge more information on her health," he told the People Daily.

Mama Sarah's family has urged Kenyans to pray for the nonagenarian.

"As the family, we are appealing to Kenyans to join hands and pray for our grandmother who has remained mindful of orphans, widows and vulnerable in the society," one of the relatives stated.

The facility's Superintendent, Dr. Biko Opidi told The Standard that Mama Sarah was responding well to medication.
