Late MP Ken Okoth’s Widow Accepts Husband Sired Nairobi MCA Anne Thumbi’s Son

Monica Okoth, the widow of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth has finally accepted DNA test results that confirmed her husband sired Nairobi nominated MCA Anne Thumbi’s son.

Through their lawyers, Ms. Monica, Ms. Thumbi and Okoth’s mother Angelina Ajwang’ have agreed to have the case closed, according to The Star.

Monica’s lawyer filed an application in a Nairobi court on Tuesday seeking to withdraw the case. Walker Kontos, the lawyer representing Ms. Monica said all parties agreed that Okoth is the minor’s biological father.

“The DNA results obtained by the applicant indicate that the alleged father is not excluded as the biological father of the child,” the consent reads in part.

Last month, Ms. Monica had filed a case challenging earlier DNA results that confirmed the chances of Okoth being the father of the four-year-old boy were 99.99 percent.

She had sought to table alternative DNA results in court within 14 days after commissioning an independent test.

The court ordered a DNA test conducted after Ms. Thumbi sued Okoth's family seeking to compel them to recognize the boy as the late MP’s son and involve him in burial arrangements.

“The mother and wife have deliberately and unfortunately excluded me from the funeral and burial arrangements of Okoth,” Thumbi said in a petition.

Okoth, who succumbed to cancer in July, was in a secret love affair with MCA Muthoni, out of which the child was born. Monica, an Italian national, had no child with her deceased husband.
