At Least I Won’t be Accused of Stealing Covid-19 Funds, DP Ruto Says in Response to Spectator Tag

Deputy President William Ruto has reacted to The Standard newspaper headline describing him as a spectator in the Jubilee administration.

The publication noted that DP Ruto has been sidelined from the government he formed with President Kenyatta and has been reduced to hosting tea parties at his Karen home.

“For months, he dismissed reports that he was a stranger in government but now Deputy President William Ruto generously shares his frustrations on social media and at tea parties at his residence,” The Standard says in the front-page article.

Ruto through Twitter on Thursday laughed off the headline, saying he is happy to be a spectator in government since he will not be accused of stealing Covid-19 funds.

“At least for once it won’t be possible to be blamed for what someone said, “started in Wuhan as a virus, landed in Italy as a pandemic and now in Kenya as a multi-billion-shilling corruption enterprise”. Wacha niendelee kama spectator. ISORAIT,” DP Ruto wrote.

Earlier this week, Ruto blasted the government over the arrest of three senators who were opposed to the contentious state-backed revenue sharing formula.

“The bipartisan Senate Committee to build WIN-WIN consensus is great wisdom and leadership. The abuse of police & criminal justice to bully citizens, threaten & intimidate leaders and now blackmail senate is WRONG.VERY WRONG. It's NOT the reason millions woke up early to vote for us,” Ruto tweeted following the arrest of Senators Cleopas Malala (Kakamega), Christopher Lang’at (Bomet) and Stephen Lelegwe (Samburu) on Monday.

This DP fool is now happy that others have been caught stealing just like he has been caught stealing many times before the new thieves!

Covid19 thieves have created a restful cover for Ruto, an internationally known conman!

The cycle of stealing in Kenya will never end until Kenyans themselves stop glorifying those who have stolen from them!

It goes without saying that now Ruto is trying to run for the presidency so he can steal even more while covered by the immunity tag provided by that office!! Boy, what a country we all live in??

DP is happy he will be not accused of stealing Covid billions? The number two in the government who is supposed to guard and protect national resources. Pathetic! Brother William, if you are honest, expose these thieves. But wait my brother, those living in glass houses should not throw stones. I rest my case.

Ruto is out of touch with the common people to cerebrate small theft of covid19 funds while his theft and corruption is beyond monumental at best!

Ruto is nothing less than a professional conman and a porliar!!!

This is someone who is wishing to be the president in 2022 now comparing the size of his theft with the theft of covid19 money!

Where is Ruto’s empathy to the average Kenyans who are directly affected by the theft of resources from any source! Mainly by politicians!

What a shame; really, what a shame!!

There is a saying, never take a square of land from the government, and never take a penny of investment from the banks. If you accept favors from this institution, people will try to exploit your weaknesses. Your vote and your choice of better candidates for the next government should be vetted through the lens of their 'flithy/dynasty' & secret handshakes.

@stefanie, pretty good question for any Kenyan of reasonable mind to ask themselves! It is not about the tribe from which you come! It is about Ruto’s decency as a man who desires to lead Kenya and the Kenyan people for that matter!

How long will it take for us as Kenyans to vote for politicians of honor to Ruto out corruption?? We cannot have have leaders who are blatantly stealing from us. And we also can not vote to elect those who are known to be top corruption agents!

Ruto’s stack comparison of the his theft and the covid19 theft leaves very concerned about the mental make up of the current crop of leaders!

Ruto’s comments have ashamed me to the core of my belief!! It is not about a tribe! It is about a Kenya, a country we are hoping to build to meet the demands of the future; the 22 century that will be here very soon for some of us to see and enjoy it!!

Ruto has stolen enough money and so he is laughing at those stealing small amounts of covid10 money! Bottom line - ruto is not worth to lead Kenyans if this is kind of childish response he is giving.

It doesn't matter how much RUTO has stolen. He is well cushioned.
Remember that trip UHURU did to kabarak?
Well, common sense dictates that these are parts of the extended HAND shake.
How comes no has said about all the money MOI stole?
We don't hear about Biwott?
Remember NATIONAL BANK?
If we are serious about fighting corruption, let's start at the top.

Keep talking and l will say it waste of time because we are the same people who elect this leader ... so we are all thieves .... we elected thieves so we are all just that they decided to keep it to themselves and next election we elect more thieves and the cycle continue....

The cycle of electing thieves has not changed since independence! Kenyans love thieves! I assume the citizens are thieves too and are ok with what is going on! They would have stopped electing thieves if they did not like it!

I have no sympathy for both the citizens and the political thieves! One will naturally consume the other and the corruption process will clean itself up!

I hope those who own shares in the MURATO(MUIGAI RAILA TOROITICH CORRUPTION CO.K.LTD) will get fat dividends than they were paid by MWARARUKI(MWAI RAILA RUTO KIRAITU CORRUPTION Co).There are foolish Kenyans who think Uhuru and Raila have a right to "EAT" and Raila can kill with impunity at will.Kenya will be saved by removing all these HAYNES from top through a revolution.Demonstratioms to scrap the senate should start now and end with Uhuru's arrest like Kheita of Mali.
