State of the Nation: Uhuru Likens Himself to Moses in the Bible, Says BBI Will Deliver Kenyans to 'Canaan'
President Kenyatta has continued to drum up support for the recently released Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Speaking in Parliament during his State of the Nation address on Thursday, Kenyatta said the report will provide long-term solutions to some of the challenges that have stopped the country from making meaningful progress since independence.
Like Moses in the Bible who saw the future as the Israelites were about to cross to the promised land, Uhuru said he could also see the future that BBI will give to Kenya.
“Like Moses in the Bible who sat at the top of Mount Nebo and saw the future that the people of Israel were about to cross into the promised land, I too have seen our future. This is what our future looks like: A Kenya where no one will ascend to a high public office on account of their tribe,” he said.
“A Kenya where no capable person will wallow in poverty because of poor governance. A Kenya where our potential as a people will be exploited for the greatness of our nation. A Kenya where we will all share equitably in the prosperity of our Nation.”
Uhuru added: “The Future is bright. The Future is beckoning. The Future is here for us to take.”
He further reiterated his call for a referendum to introduce changes to the 2010 Constitution “so as to lay the foundation for the prosperous future that we seek.”
“As a people, we must seize this constitutional moment to ensure that we deliver to future generations of Kenyans the country that they deserve. Kofi Annan aptly reminded us that, “The world is not ours to keep. We hold it in trust for future generations.” This moment in time is our meeting with destiny,” Uhuru stated.
“We are a beacon of hope, an icon of peace and stability in a volatile region, and a role model for progressive African Social Democracy. These qualities are not inherent, and we must continuously water them from the well of our national commitment to a better, brighter, and more inclusive Kenya for all.”

Kwa mfano, unaweza kusema Syokimau alisema, (...) badala ya kusema Mohamed alisema (...)Pia, unaweza pia kusema Gikuyu na Mumbi walisema, (...)
Najua tulipigwa msasa (brainwashed) tulipotawaliwa na Waingereza walipofika Kenya. Si lazima tuendeleze porojo zao zinazokataa kukubali ya kwamba sisi pia tulikuwa na dini zetu kabla hawafika Kenya bila kualikwa. Dini na lugha ni kama baba na mama. Kila mmoja wa wananchi wa Kenya alikuwa na lugha yake pamoja na imani yake kabla ya kupigwa msasa. Hakuna dini au lugha ambayo ni nzuri au bora kuliko dini au lugha nyingine!
Waswahili husema, "Baba wa kambo si baba." Nami nitasema. "Dini ya kambo si dini yako."
Tusisahau ya kwamba dini hizi mbili za kigeni zinatutenganisha kutokana na filosofia ya mababu na nyanya zetu.

Stop with the games which Canaan that the previous presidents have failed to reach what makes you think you can deliver.Your time is up stop trying to finagle your way into power with this BBI crap .We can not afford to pay the current civil servants .Governors ,teachers, lecturers and doctors keep going on strike.Instead of shrinking the government you are expanding it why do we need both a prime minister and Vice President for what as we speak it is chaos in Nairobi with two chiefs there are already too many cooks in the kitchen and we are talking just one county out of 47.Please retire let Kenyans figure out their own destiny go do farming your VP is offering a free wheelbarrow.
