Court Lifts Order Stopping the Burial of Matungu MP Justus Murunga

The High Court has lifted an order stopping the burial of the late Matungu MP Justus Murunga.

Murunga was set to be interred on November 28th but a woman named Agnes Wangui filed a petition in court claiming she had two children, a boy and a girl, with the deceased.

She sought to be recognized as family and be allowed to take part in the burial arrangements together with her two kids aged seven and three.

Wangui further asked the court to order the collection of DNA samples from Murunga’s body and her kids for comparison and confirmation of their paternity.

On Friday, the court lifted the order suspending the burial and ordered parties to meet with their respective pathologists at Lee Funeral Home at 1:30 pm for purposes of collecting samples for DNA analysis.

The order was lifted after Murunga’s two widows, Christabel and Grace moved to court arguing that the delay in the burial was causing the family unnecessary anguish. The two noted that Wangui’s prayers in the petition should not delay the send-off.

“The sooner the deceased is left to rest in peace the better for everybody,” they stated.

Wangui claims that Murunga had plans to solemnize their union under the Agikuyu customs prior to his death, and had bought her land in Karen where he was planning to build her a home.

Murunga is now scheduled to be buried at his rural home in Matungu, Kakamega County on December 5th. The politician succumbed to Covid-19 while being taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Mumias on November 14th.

Wangui, the mpango wa kando, has no respect for the dead man! All she is thinking is me, me, me, myself and I. The rest is in the halls of history; gone, finito!

Did wangui not know murunga’s house was too over populated with wives? It is all funny how these women play stupid as they hope to topple other women’s homes! What are you gonna do now?? Stay in court fighting to inherit air?

These undocumented traditional marriages should be abolished! The 21st century should only recognize what is written in ink! Any street woman can mushroom to claim a fake marriage with the dead! It is immoral!

But these MPs are not in a hurry to correct this mess because that is where they get secret women to sexually satisfy themselves while they leave the family reeling in pain upon death! Enough is enough!

It was disrespectful of the dead for the Court to stop the burial in the first place, considering that the plaintiff was not married to the deceased. What was her 'locus standi'? Does it mean that anyone can just come from nowhere, and stop someone's burial? And since DNA samples can be collected without stopping the burial, why put the family through the anguish of stopping a burial?
