Jimmy Gait Claims Kenyan Women in Gulf Are Mistreated for Sleeping with their Employers
Gospel singer Jimmy Gait has weighed in on the mistreatment of Kenyan immigrant workers in the Middle East.
Gait, who runs a recruitment agency that places Kenyans in jobs abroad, claimed that indiscipline was the main reason why Kenyan domestic workers are abused by their employers in Gulf.
Speaking during an interview on K24 TV on Friday, the 39-year-old alleged that some of the victims steal from their employers while others sleep with their husbands.
“Number one reason is indiscipline. These ladies go stealing from the Arabs and some even sleeping with other people’s husbands. The moment you start sleeping with your boss is showing him/her how weak you are,” Gait said.
He added: “Before I started this initiative, I had the same mentality. I would encourage anyone who would like to go there to go. There’s always a story behind a story but when these ladies come out and speak about their mistreatment, you don’t get to hear why.”
He added that many Kenyans who travel to Gulf countries such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia for work prosper and that only a small fraction are ill-treated. Gait stated that most of the victims are ladies because men are more “sexually responsible.”
“Very small fraction comes out with those horrific narratives but the stories spread so fast because they are shared online.”
He continued: “There are so many Kenyan men working in the Middle East in Saudi, Qatar, Dubai the reason you don’t hear about men being mistreated is that they do not go sleeping with their bosses’ wives.”
Gait also admitted that Kenyan ladies are mishandled because some rogue agencies cut corners and fail to follow the government’s protocols.

There is a power dynamics at play here.I can liken this to a janitor making sexual advances to the executive director.What are the chances? Its more likely that the one more powerful,the executive director could make sexual advances to his subordinate.

@Maxiley, yes there is a power dynamic and the men of these house are equally responsible. As these women start speaking out you realize there is some truth to the story. The boss man makes sexual advances but the woman has the final say. One woman said when the boss started running after her she knew there and then she had to leave or rather run away. Another one was told by lady of the house wazi that if she ever sleeps with any man in her house atakufa.

There could be some truth about the djs sleeping with their bosses. But the question is , is right to murder or mistreat the accused? True the majority of the foreign workers in the Middle East are successful. Men may be more irresponsible sexually than men is debatable because the boss wives may be better at hiding the affair as opposed to the husband.

for someone to travel these ladies have nothing here in Kenya. Men be giving them babies and leaving the lady as very young single mums. I'm talking about ages 20 to 26 with more than 4 kids no secondary school education no empowerment nor employment. for them to be able to raise their kids they travel to "hell" Saudi at least to get decent pay for a service they can provide. so you can criticize the recruitment industry but the ladies are not forced to migrate.
