Democratic Party Members Oppose Speaker Muturi’s Decision to Join Kenya Kwanza Alliance

A section of Democratic Party (DP) members have opposed National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi’s decision to join the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

On Saturday, Muturi signed a coalition agreement between the Democratic Party and the Deputy President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Led by DP’s Secretary-General Wambugu Nyamu, a section of members has written to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties challenging the Muturi’s decision.

They want the Registrar of Political Parties to reject the coalition agreement between the party and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, arguing that the party resolved not to join any political alliances ahead of the August 9th elections at its National Delegates Convention (NDC) held on February 20th.

“Having attended the NDC, we are therefore surprised by the announcement by the Party leader Justin Muturi this morning that the Party has joined the Kenya Kwanza Coalition in complete violation, disregard and subversion of the will of the party members as conveyed in the resolutions of the NDC,” the letter reads in part.

Nyamu noted that members unanimously agreed that in the event the party decides to join a coalition, it would only do so after the upcoming elections. Muturi was also endorsed as the party's presidential flagbearer in the forthcoming elections.

“This decision is in the public domain as the NDC was televised live to the Nation on that day,” adds the letter.

Speaking after signing the agreement at a Nairobi hotel, Muturi claimed the party gave him the authority to join forces with like-minded parties with a view of forming the next government.

“I promised during the Democratic Party National Delegates Convention that as instructed, I would consult people of goodwill, like-minded parties, and party leaders. My party has given me that backing,” he said.

Ruto will not win the presidency and he knows it. However, he will be a very effective oppositional leader because if anyone can make the Kikuyu reject their own, that is not someone to be taken lightly. I am a Raila supporter but I wonder whether he knows what is in store for him. He will try to impeach Raila within the first year of his presidency.

Muturi is just a lost cat that doesn’t know any better. The campaign season is now a teaching lesson to Kenyans about who to trust or not. Muturi has proved that he is part of thieves and not on the side of Kenyans. How does a whole speaker join UDAku, a group made up of thugs and thieves? This Muturi is a shame to the whole country. It’s hard to imagine a guy of his stature making some self defecating decisions to serve his interests alone.

Your bitterness show it all; that Muturi is of substance. You won’t be be complaining if he wasn’t. Him having been elected by the people and yet still elected as speaker by the house is enough to tell all sundry that he can make his sober mind decisions without following a herd.

He is flowing a herd of thieves led by WSR. If that is making a mind of his own, I tend to differ with your analogy of independent mind. His constituents are up in arms because they do not want to be associated with a kalenjin thief; DP Ruto. However, having known you as a baby thief who eats dropped srumbs plus vomit under Ruto’s kitchen table, it’s obvious you are terribly blind to the facts.

The Eurobond thieves and herd. The Sagana bribery brigade. The roads project thieves. The Covid grant thieves. The thieves who have stifled the farmers so they can buy things like milk cheap. That’s the herd am talking about.
