Gospel Singer Rufftone Steps Down from Nairobi Senate Race in Favor of Bishop Wanjiru

Gospel singer Roy Smith Mwatia, alias Rufftone, has withdrawn from the race for Nairobi senator.

Rufftone stepped down in favor of former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who is vying for the Nairobi senatorial seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

The musician-cum-politician says he decided to shelve his bid following consultative talks with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leadership led by its presidential flagbearer Deputy President William Ruto.

The 'Mungu Baba' hit maker reaffirmed his support for Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua, exuding confidence that the two will win the forthcoming elections.

"Rigathi has the tenacity, the vigor, consistency and is a very straight forward person and having Dr. Ruto on the other hand as someone who cares for the normal mwananchi and is an honest leader, they complement each other and clearly that is the winning team," Rufftone told Citizen TV.

Bishop Wanjiru will face off with ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna, who is flying the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition flag in the Nairobi senate race.

Mwatia was bribed with a kilogram of expired Kamangu’s frozen hand. And I wonder if there is any YES hungry billionaire voter with an idea why Kenya has the luxury senate.

Kenya happens to the only country; I believe that doesn't have mayors. So, check for another position and not a Councillor please.
