Comedian Eric Omondi Arrested While Leading a Protest Outside Parliament

Comedian Eric Omondi was on Tuesday arrested for leading a demonstration outside Parliament buildings in Nairobi.
Accompanied by a group of about 20 men, Omondi marched to Parliament to protest the high cost of living in the country and demanded an audience with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
They were carrying placards written "stima juu, taxi juu", among other publications.
The group of youths attempted to storm into Parliament after the speaker took too long to come out and address them.
Police were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse the demonstrators as they struggled to force their way into Parliament premises.
The officers engaged the youth in running battles and Omondi was arrested in the ensuing melee and taken to an unknown destination.
The youths wearing black shorts and bare chests had brought business around parliament to a standstill for about 30 minutes, with onlookers milling around to watch.
This is not the first time Omondi is leading a demonstration outside parliament.
In February 2022, Omondi chained himself in a cube outside parliament, with a bold placard written ‘Play 75 percent’.
The comedian sought the attention of parliament to debate and enact laws compelling local media stations to play at least 75 percent of Kenyan music.

Iam truly impressed. I have never taken Omondi seriously.I guess because he is a clown. To lead a demostration as an activist, has positively changed my view of him.I can now listen to his jokes.
I suggest that Omondi joins forces with RAO.There is power in number.Gava cannot ignore a million man-woman march to parliament. At least you have caught the attention of Watengula, how ever small in measure.

Omondi is a self seeker advancing his personal popularity. I agree that the cost of living is up in Kenya. It’s not that it’s just gone up but has been has been up for the past three years. In fact it’s the prices of some essential commodities are going down today.
It’s foolhardy to say that taxes have gone up because no tax has not increased in Kenya. What has increased is the number of people paying taxes. And less tax exemptions.
I have heard similar sentiments coming from the opposition. The talk of cost of living being up is not because WSR just became president. It’s because Baba is not in any handshake. All that talk disappears as soon as Raila gets a handshake of sort. Just in the same as it was during his shared government with Uhuru. The cost of living was even higher then but Baba or his sycophants were mute.
