Govt Announces Closure of All Children's Homes and Orphanages in Kenya

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection recently revealed its intentions to shut down all children's homes across the nation.
Florence Bore, who serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Social Protection, made the announcement on Saturday while visiting the Child Welfare Society of Kenya's Temporary Place of Safety. As part of the government's plan to deinstitutionalize programs for children, Bore on Monday announced plans to close orphanages and children's homes stating that they are utilized as tools for human trafficking. Bore elaborated on the concept of deinstitutionalization, stating that it involves reforming childcare systems and closing orphanages and children's homes while finding suitable and nurturing placements for vulnerable children through non-institutional means.
The government intends to place homeless or rescued children in foster homes as part of its program. Bore stressed that numerous nations globally have adopted foster parenting due to its higher rate of success when compared to standard children's homes. The reasoning behind shutting down these homes stems from the belief that children flourish best in affectionate home environments.
The government's ongoing efforts to reintegrate the community include providing space for rehabilitation. The government announced in November 2022 its plan to gradually phase out orphanages and children's homes over the next decade as part of the comprehensive Care Reform Strategy.

Hundreds of Crooks masquerading as sympathizers, and mostly pastors have for decades exploited these unfortunate, poor, vulnerable, and hopeless children to enrich themselves. They receive billions of dollars from foreign donors year after year, then divert the resources for their personal use. There are orphanages and children homes everywhere, and still counting. May everything they steal from these innocent haunt them for the rest of their lives.
