GSU Officers Charged with Kidnapping Chinese National Appear in Court

On Wednesday, three officers from the GSU appeared in Mavoko Law Courts, facing charges related to the abduction of a Chinese citizen in Machakos County.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) successfully apprehended the suspects involved A week after the incident occurred. The accused individuals, identified as PC Fredrick Mwongela Mwololo, PC Samuel Mwiti, and PC Kimwele Musyoki, are members of the General Service Unit. The alleged crime took place when the victim was en route to work. As stated in the DCI report, the three officers intercepted the victim, obstructed his vehicle, forcefully transferred him into their car, and swiftly departed towards Machakos.

When the victim failed to show up for work, his friend became concerned and reported him missing. Through the use of forensic techniques, detectives were able to locate the victim in Mua Hills, Machakos. The investigation, carried out by the DCI, later uncovered that the kidnapping was orchestrated by a group consisting of three GSU officers, a Chinese national, and a taxi driver. The main perpetrator of the crime contacted the victim's family in China and demanded a ransom, which was then sent to a foreign bank account. Once the money was received, the victim was finally released.

Appearing visibly shaken in Athi River several hours following the incident, the individual recounted the traumatic experience to law enforcement officials, emphasizing that he had been forcefully robbed by the officers. After conducting a thorough inquiry, law enforcement officials successfully determined the individual responsible for one of the cars implicated in the incident. The individual confessed to lending his vehicle to an acquaintance on the day of the unlawful act. Consequently, it came to light that one of the masterminds was employed at the same organization as the victim.

The authorities successfully tracked down the individual who owned the vehicle. He revealed that he had given it to a friend on the day of the incident. Moreover, evidence suggested that the main perpetrator was in constant contact with the arrested GSU officers during the entire operation. To wrap up the inquiry, the detectives have asked for more time to hold the suspects in custody. The main suspect, who is from China, is still on the run. Currently, Interpol is diligently tracking down the Chinese associates of the gang.
