DPP Renson Ingonga Challenges Jacque Maribe's Acquittal in Monicah Kimani Murder Trial

DPP Renson Ingonga Challenges Jacque Maribe's Acquittal in Monicah Kimani Murder Trial

The Director of Public Prosecutions has appealed against the decision to clear former TV presenter Jacque Maribe of any involvement in the murder case of businesswoman Monicah Kimani.

Maribe was initially charged alongside her ex-fiancé, Joseph Irungu (also known as Jowie), in connection with the 2018 killing of the 28-year-old entrepreneur. While Judge Grace Nzioka recently convicted Irungu of murder, she absolved Maribe of any responsibility, stating that there was no proof connecting her to the victim's demise.
However, the prosecution plans to appeal part of the verdict, specifically focusing on Maribe's involvement in providing false information to a public servant.

"I find the evidence adduced against the second accused person insufficient to prove the offence against her and I acquit her accordingly," Justice Nzioka said in a judgement delivered last Friday.

In response to the conviction, the court revoked Jowie's bail and ordered him to remain in custody until March 8, 2024. His emotional response to the revocation of his bail was apparent, as he was observed trying to hold back tears. Amidst the public's reaction to the verdict, Jowie's perspective on life and imprisonment came to light in an interview with Tuko.

"Take notice that the Republic, the intended Appellant herein, being dissatisfied with the decision of the High Court of Kenya at Nairobi (Hon G. Nzioka) delivered in Nairobi on the 9th of February, 2024, appeals against part of the judgement acquitting the second accused person," the notice by the DPPs office read.

In the interview, Jowie displays a profound outlook on his situation, expressing acceptance and finding a sense of purpose in the face of hardship. His sentiments resonate with a profound understanding for those behind bars, advocating for understanding rather than sympathy.

The judge convicts with the evidence provided to the court by prosecution! Definitely she was an accessory to the coverup.

She was trying to protect her stupid boyfriend, it has cost her dearly and her life will never be the same again.

My two cents is that the young lady was manipulated by her murderer “boyfriend”, and in the process she did lie about some things to protect her murderer “boyfriend”, being drunk with “love” and promises (read lies) from her murderer “boyfriend”, but I don’t believe that she had prior knowledge or even participated in the killing of the other young woman!!! Was it robbery or denied the honey hole, only the murderer Jowie has the answers!!

A motive is not required in order to prove a case! Even here in the United States, but prosecutors usually provide one, if they have one to help the jury connect the dots, but the jury is pretty smart to figure it out themselves!!!

She just needs to be sentenced to a curriculum on greed and how to find decent dates. She falls for anything with money yet she was a news anchor

Jowie and Maribe are innocent! The murderers came from South Sudan. She worked at S.S.governor's office and she was friends with a general. Then she became rich suddenly. If I was a juror in this case, I would acquit Jowie and Maribe.

She was the mastermind. She could not stand being a sideschick obviously gave her then boyfriend an ultimatum either her or me and he decided to get rid of his other woman who most probably had stuff on him like money owed or other illegal shit that she threatened to reveal .He figured his then powerful journalist side chicken would protect him considering she was socially and politically connected. Well she got fired and no longer had the influence he was hoping for. This Jowie character is not too bright he should have sang like a canary when she dumped him after having been fired

How does one human being sleep well knowing they had a part in taking their fellow human being's life? Have humans degraded themselves to the level of wild beasts for real? Bure kabisa!
