The recent release of the track 'Yesu Ninyandue' by William Getumbe has sparked a wave of anger and disapproval throughout Kenya, particularly within the Christian community.
The contentious song has drawn criticism for its perceived disrespect towards Christianity, causing religious leaders and concerned individuals to heavily censure it. Music Copyright of Kenya(MSCK) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has publicly voiced his displeasure over the song's apparent blasphemy. On February 15, Mutua uploaded a statement on Social media slamming the song and requesting its immediate removal from all digital platforms. Mutua described the song as "madness".
Dr Mutua has continued to lament the decline of cultural principles and the acceptance of immoral behaviour in exchange for attention and popularity. He highlights the need to engage in an open and truthful dialogue about the content Kenyans consume. This discussion must occur at various levels, ranging from personal to communal, and even on a nationwide basis. He affirms that the country will not allow this chaos to become the accepted standard.
According to the CEO, it is disheartening to witness the acceptance and normalization of unethical, peculiar, and offensive material in the media and on social platforms in Kenya. He says that a troubling pattern has emerged where sensationalism and the shock factor outweigh ethical principles. This results in the celebration of wrongdoing and the deterioration of virtuous values. He highlights that the country has reached a stage where immoral, strange, and offensive content and conduct are no longer exceptional, but rather routine.
He laments that the present way of life is being reinforced by a society that tolerates everything and overlooks nothing. He adds that this is amplified by a flawed value proposition which applauds wickedness while disdaining and relegating virtuous behaviours. Such a defunct system deserves rejection, says MSCK's CEO. Ezekiel voices concern about how people are utilizing the media as a platform to exercise their right to freedom of expression. He highlights a troubling trend where individuals are creating and consuming content that encourages blasphemy and rebellion within society.
"We are a sick society provoking the wrath of God. We have allowed indiscipline and blasphemy on our media in the name of freedom of expression," says Ezekiel Mutua.

People need to wake up. Stop worshipping a white god that doesn't exist. You are co-creators, and don't let any written scriptures mislead you. The god from the bible is man-made. So is hell and heaven. The so called holy scriptures are man-made too. Set up to control, divide and manipulate masses. Wake up people and get out of this trap. You don't need divine intervention to answer your prayers because you consciously and un-consciously create and destroy your reality.
@MLANDIZI I DIDN'T KNOW YOU ARE THAT STUPID AND DAMN HOW DARE YOU ,TALK ABOUT OUR SAVIOR .MAY YOU REPENT OR YOU WILL BURN IN HELL.
BE VERY CARE ABOUT BLASPHEMY. YOU CAN BRING CURSES TO YOUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN
Go for it Mutua. All our other leaders are just pursuing worldly pleasures and not thinking about the future of our cultural heritage.
Thank you Dokta!
Who are “OUR”?Which culture?Where would you and fake prefect Mutua be if it were not for UTAMU/KUNYANDUANA?
Aii, jielimishe dada/ndugu! Did you listen to the lyrics for sure? Ignorance has no defence, even in the face of any laws of the land.
I will not even look up the song. People are doing all they can to get views.
Why not condemn Archbishop Harrison Nganga who is telling people to tithe Title deeds, log-books, and their only furniture they have. Sacrificial giving. People are giving him everything they have.
Muslim defeat Mohamed at all cost. Why don't Christian do the same.
What the hell, Mutua is defending an itinerant Jew that lived 3000 years ago and probably never even existed.
