Ruto's US-Based Supporter Cosmo Choy Apologizes for Insulting Mama Ngina Kenyatta

US-based Kenyan politician Ombori Monari, alias Cosmo Choy, has apologized for insulting former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Choy, a stern supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, issued a public apology to President Kenyatta’s family over the recent verbal attack on Mama Ngina

Through social media on Thursday, Choy, who is also a leader of the Abagusii community in the US, said he acted out of anger when he made the unprintable remarks against Mama Ngina, 88.

He claimed that he was only defending Ruto after Mama Ngina castigated the deputy president during a burial in Gatundu South this week.

“I am here to apologize to the Kenyatta family, Mama Ngina Kenyatta and President Uhuru Kenyatta. I am sorry for the remarks that I made a few days ago. I didn’t mean it. Mama aliingia siasa na akaongea juu ya Ruto na mnajua napenda Ruto lakini siasa ni mbaya,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added: “I do apologize. Pole sana kwa familia, pole sana mama we ni mama wetu. It is something sweet to have a mum alive, I lost my mom and I will never see her again so pole sana.  We are human beings and we make mistakes and we forgive each other.”

Choy has declared interest in the Embakasi East parliamentary seat in the forthcoming elections and is likely to face off with incumbent MP Babu Owino.

Speaking during the burial of Nelly Wanjiku, mother of Bishop Ernest Karanja in Kafangi village on Tuesday, Mama Ngina blamed Ruto for his fallout with President Kenyatta, saying the deputy president showed “ill intentions and disrespect.”

“He (Uhuru) had no problem with his deputy, but if your deputy shows ill intentions and disrespect would you bother with him or carry on? Where he (Uhuru) shows you, please follow that direction,” Mama Ngina noted.
