Former News Anchor Julie Gichuru Says Her Life in Danger over Raila's US Trip Claims
Former Citizen TV news anchor Julie Gichuru claims that her life is in danger following online allegations that she traveled to the US to stalk National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga during his 10-day trip to the county.
Social media reports, whose source is yet to be known alleges that Ms Gichuru recently traveled to the US to “keep an eye” on Raila during his trip.
The reports further claims that Gichuru monitored Raila's movements on behalf of National Intelligence Service (NIS).
“She (Julie Gichuru) played the role of ‘unidentified girl’ in USA throughout Mr Odinga’s stay in the Western nation. The former Prime Minister already had information about her,” the report alleges.
The document further alleges that Ms Gichuru boarded the same flight with Mr Odinga when the NASA leader was returning to Kenya via Dubai.
“She (Julie Gichuru) booked the First Class seats near Mr Odinga at a Dubai airport. The First Class seat bookings, the previous evening, showed that only Mr Odinga and his daughter, Winnie, were the occupants. It puzzles how all the seats were booked overnight,” read a part of the claims.
“Upon seeing her, Baba (Raila Odinga) mysteriously changed his plan and booked another flight.”
However, Julie Gichuru has refuted the allegations via her Twitter handle, saying she is shocked by the “vicious, dangerous and fake allegations about me and Raila”.
“This one, IG Joseph Boinnet and Acting Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i must investigate. I do not believe in harming others. Never have. Never will. Never would. Now, I am getting death threats over fake news,” tweeted Julie Gichuru.
“Let me be so clear for those determined to believe foolish lies. I traveled to Accra, Ghana on Sunday (November 12) to guide sessions on the new media era in Africa for Bloomberg, then to Moscow for a global conference on Ending Tuberculosis. I moderated that session. I headed back to Kenya via Dubai with a four-hour transit at the airport. I landed in Kenya at 3:10pm on Friday, November 17,” says Gichuru.
