We Won't Tolerate Violence and Intimidation, President Uhuru Warns NASA

The government will not tolerate individuals using violence and intimidation to achieve their political agenda, President Uhuru has warned.

Addressing mourners during the burial ceremony of former Nyeri Governor Dr Wahome Gakuru at Kagumo High School in Nyeri county on Saturday, the head of state warned he will not allow "a few people to destroy the country".

"We have a constitution and we are a nation that is governed by the rule of law and we must abide by it. Asking people to abide by it is not going overboard," he said.

The President further said that everyone must respect the rule regardless of who they are, noting that he also obeyed a court decision invalidating his victory.

"Even myself as President I followed the law [even though] I felt I had been wronged," he said.

"Kenya belongs to God and its too important to us. We will not let it go in the way of chaos, division and bloodshed because under Uhuru we have a future as the nation," he said.

Uhuru was speaking in reference to the chaos witnessed in Nairobi on Friday when opposition supporters welcomed National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga who returned to the country from a10-day trip to the US. Police confirmed that five people died, while several others sustained injuries.

Speaking at the same event, Deputy President William Ruto accused the opposition of attempting to use unorthodox means to grab power.

"The people who think they can use intimidation and violence to further their political agenda will not succeed. We will never succumb to intimidation or blackmail," he said.

"This country is too important to be left in the hands of people who believe in chaos and bloodshed."

"We will not allow this country to go down the path of anarchy, tribalism, satanism, there is no way will succumb to blackmail, we believe in the Constitution and the wishes of a few people will never come to pass, Kenya will never be a country of chaos." Ruto said.

Pigavitu, could agree with you more. He is indeed "something special", that's why he's put up with NASA's nonsense. Anyone else would have cracked under the pressure! Get my drift?
