President Kenyatta has put Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and other State officials on notice over corruption and wastage of public resources.
A tough-talking Head of State told members of the Cabinet that they will not be spared in the war against graft and misuse of public resources.
He said that top government officials, including Cabinet Secretaries and their Principal Secretaries must fully be accountable for every coin allocated to their dockets.
“Those who thought they had blinded me should now know they are on notice,” said the president.
President Kenyatta spoke in Bomet County during the official opening of Sh275 million ultra-modern Eye and Dental Centre at the Tenwek Mission Hospital. The new facility will serve 20,000 patients and conduct 5,000 surgeries per year.
The President said that Tenwek Hospital has set a precedence that must be replicated in government departments.
“I have seen what less than Sh300 million can do to uplift the lives of Kenyans. I want to see similar facilities at Kenyatta National Hospital, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Nyeri and Mombasa,” said President Kenyatta, who was flanked by Deputy President William Ruto.
“We are going to set funds aside for such projects and if they are not completed by next year those responsible should get prepared to be sacked because we have many energetic Kenyans out there capable of doing that work,” he warned.
