Explosion, Gunshots in Westlands Area in Nairobi in Suspected Terror Attack

A loud explosion followed gunshots has been reported at 14 Riverside in Nairobi's Westlands area in what is suspected to be a terror attack.

Reports indicate there was an explosion outside one of the buildings before heavy gunfire filled the air at around 3 pm. Security officers have arrived at the scene.

"Police wishes to confirm that there has been an attack incident along 14 Riverside Drive. The area has since been cordoned off and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to facilitate smooth operations of the Police," the National Police Service says in a tweet.
