Suspect Behind Car Theft Syndicate Arrested in Nairobi

Flying Squad detectives acting on a tip-off have arrested a suspect believed to be behind a car theft syndicate in Nairobi.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says the suspect named Duncan Ochieng Ouso was arrested in an apartment in Nairobi's Umoja Estate.

The DCI reveals that Ouso is notorious for receiving stolen vehicles and repainting them.

During his arrest, officers have recovered two vehicles – a Toyota Premio and a Toyota Wish- believed to have been stolen.

The suspect is set to be arraigned and charged in court next week.

The DCI also says another vehicle bearing a foreign registration number has been confiscated during a similar operation.

The driver of the car allegedly declined to stop after he was flagged down by detectives along Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

A chase ensued and the driver abandoned the car near Gilgil weigh-bridge and escaped on foot.
