Retired President Daniel Arap Moi was admitted to Nairobi Hospital for a routine medical examination.
The 95-year-old was taken to hospital on Sunday evening accompanied by his private physician Dr. David Silverstein, according to Daily Nation.
This was confirmed by Moi’s Press Secretary Lee Njiru, who said it was just a routine medical analysis and nothing to worry about.
“Yes, l can confirm that Mzee Moi visited the Nairobi Hospital for a routine medical check-up. It is prudent for any human being to undergo regular medical check-ups, so there is nothing to worry about,” Njiru was quoted by Daily Nation.
The examination is expected to take a few days before Moi is discharged, a source privy to the matter told Nairobi News.
Last December, Moi was taken to the same facility for what doctors also termed as a routine checkup for a few days.
In March 2018, the former president was flown to Israel and was admitted to a hospital in the city of Tel Aviv for surgery.
In a statement at the time, his spokesperson Lee Njiru said Moi had an operation on his knee “which has been troubling him for some time.”
The problem began in 2006 after the car he was traveling with collided with another vehicle at Rukuma area in Limuru.

.... routine check ups don't take days to do.
Mugabe also went in for a routine check up..
The sun is now setting on Mr. Moi and I wish him well. He did quite some damage in ruling our beloved country Kenya and since every choice a man makes is the right choice for him, I have to believe he meant well. Besides, the current leadership which is more youthful than Moi has done a pathetic job. Our country has a lot of tears. Children are hungry and adults are tired and sick. No adequate food or food safety. No clean water and no basic health Care or decent education. In a country where nearly 47 percent lives on less than a dollar a day, millionaires live in opulence and splendor. Corruption has transferred public wealth into private holdings. Those unable or unwilling to grab are considered stupid or retarded. Our politicians, business tycoons, lawyers, prosecutors and judges are all caught up in web of deceit and thievery each trying their level best to out March the other. As for Moi, he left almost twenty years ago and the tragedy of our present existence is no longer on him but ourselves and our present crooked leadership.
"routine" is a giving blood for tests. Please see if he can give back some of his stolen loot before he dies.
The good thing is that nobody live for ever. The sun does set on all of us. The extent of the damage Moi did to the country continues even today. I do not see why he should be celebrated. He and his cronies stole so much public money that we have never recovered, and so it goes.
Lord Jesus, please bound my mouth, so I don't utter a bad word against my elders, even when I feel justified to do so. Amen. With this prayer as my guard, I will say this: God has a reason for keeping naughty people alive longer, for he wants them to repent their naughty deeds. Only then will they get to see the upper floor which we are promised is full of everlasting joy!! Hang on a minute: So why would they get a 2nd chance of happiness and riches when some had to struggle in this life, let alone the next? Where is the justice in that? I wish nothing but good health for our babu Moi. Thank you lord for keeping my filthy thoughts from spewing over this time!
I wish diarrhea on him until he return the loot.
Hate him love him. We had a sense of direction as a country during Moi error.
Can someone tell me where we are heading as a country.!
Moi is the best compared to what we have now wah??? No hate for mzee
Nonsense! No body get admitted for routine check up! Those are done on an out-patient basis unless there is a a worrisome medical problem requiring further diagnostic work up! Quick Recovery Mzee.
