Ida Odinga Given 14 Days to Settle Dispute over Fidel’s Estate with His Widow

Parties in the Fidel Odinga multi-million-shilling estate case have been given two weeks to settle the matter out of court.
The case pits Fidel’s widow Lwam Bekele against Raila’s wife Ida Odinga and daughter Winnie Odinga.
On Wednesday, Ms. Bekele through lawyer Rodger Sagana told the court that the parties needed more time to try strike an agreement regarding the late Fidel’s property.
High Court Justice Aggrey Muchelule hence gave the parties two weeks and directed the matter be mentioned on November 27th, 2019.
The court also granted an application by lawyer John Swaka for twins allegedly fathered by Fidel to be enjoined in the case.
On October 16th, Justice Muchelule ordered a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of the twins after Ms. Bekele denied the kids, saying her son is the only heir to her deceased husband’s estate.
Ida and her daughter Winnie want the twins included as beneficiaries of the estate left behind by Fidel.
The property under contention includes Fidel’s Karen home, three parcels of land, three luxury vehicles, and cash in seven bank accounts.
41-year-old Fidel was found dead after a night out with friends four years ago. Ms. Bekele said she found him unresponsive in the morning inside a spare bedroom at their Karen home.
