CS Matiang’i Threatens to Sue Blogger Robert Alai for Defamation

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has threatened to sue blogger Robert Alai for defamation.
Through his attorney Donald Kipkorir, CS Matiang’i has asked Alai to pull down libelous content recently published on his blog failure to which he will take legal action against him.
In an article published on www.kahawatungu.com on March 13th, Alai claimed that CS Matiang’i owns a concrete company that has been inflicting misery to residents of Bobasi in Kisii county.
Alai alleged that the quarry owned by Matiang’i violates established regulatory approvals hence causing death, injury and health risks to residents.
"The said words published in the blog and Twitter page were calculated to disparage the minister in his public life," lawyer Kipkorir said in the demand letter to Alai.
The lawyer said the claims portray CS Matiang’i as a dissolute and profligate character who is guilty of abuse of office.
"The said publications were out of malevolence and spite towards the minister and were also calculated to increase the popularity of the said blog and a Twitter page with a view of making a profit as a media influencer to attract advertising," Kipkorir said.
"Our instructions are to demand your immediate pulling down of the said publication and its complete expunging online and all links to them, whereupon we can go into quantum payable".
"If the above demands are not complied with immediately, we have instructions to file suit to compel their removal and to pursue damages and cost for libel."

Matiangi should provide proof about the matter instead of running to lawyers and courts. He is a public figure in a corrupt administration.
