Panic as 48 Members of Kenyan Family Contract Covid-19 within 7 Days
A Nakuru-based attorney has warned Kenyans to take the Covid-19 disease seriously and act responsibly after over 40 members of his family got infected.
Gordon Ogola told The Star that 48 family members back in Gondoche village, Migori County tested positive for the virus in a span of one week.
“The last one or so week has been harrowing to the Ogola family and clan. In a span of seven days we have 48 infections in the family including my 80-year-old mum,” he said.
His mother is currently fighting for her life in the intensive care unit (ICU), where she was admitted to five days ago.
Sadly, Ogola’s elder brother succumbed to the disease within 24 hours of admission to the hospital.
“My 61-year-old brother Moses Osoro Ogola succumbed within 24 hours of admission,” Ogola added.
Those who were around the lawyer’s mother including his sisters, stepmother, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, cousins, and workers contracted the infection.
“Put us in your prayers. I want to plead with all of us to spread the gospel of the reality of this pandemic,” said Ogola.
"As Kagwe [Health CS] repeatedly says let’s not treat this thing normally because it will treat us abnormally...My worry now is... Is the whole family and village being wiped out?"
The Health Ministry recently warned that communal infection ins entering its peak.
As of Tuesday, Kenya had reported 23,202 Covid-19 cases and 388 deaths.
