Germany Donates Sh27 Million Forensic Investigation Equipment to DCI

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has received advanced forensic investigation equipment from Germany through its embassy in Kenya.

The Sh27 million equipment comprising specialized crime investigation kits, video, and photographic cameras were handed over to DCI Director George Kinoti by German Ambassador to Kenya Thomas Wimmer.

Kinoti said the donation is a major boost in the fight against crime, saying it will help detectives to solve many pending criminal cases.

On his part, Ambassador Wimmer hailed the DCI for its unrelenting efforts in frustrating criminal muscles, terming the acquisition of modern equipment as the beginning of a real hard time for criminal syndicates in the country.

Last week, officers drawn from DCI’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit begun a two-week training for trainers course at the DCI Academy.

The Federal Government of Germany through the German Development Cooperation is facilitating the course that aims at equipping the officers with modern-day forensic techniques, skills, and methods of investigation.

Germany has also developed three furnished simulation rooms at National Police Training College in Kiganjo, DCI Academy, and DCI Headquarters.
