Gambler Wins Court Case to Claim Sh500,000 Prize After Betika Refused to Pay

A Betika customer has been awarded Sh500,000 in court after the betting company refused to pay out on his jackpot.

David Juma claimed that he had correctly predicted the outcome of eight football matches on February 17, 2023, entitling him to the prize money. However, Betika argued that he had only predicted seven out of eight matches, meaning he wasn't eligible for the jackpot. On Monday, the magistrate ruled in Juma's favour, asserting that he had provided ample evidence to substantiate his claim.

In the case, it was revealed that the company's betting slip did not indicate the league division, but Juma insisted that he had made the correct prediction and deserved the prize money. The firm claimed that the anticipated draw between Juarez and Leon did not happen as predicted by Juma. The judge discovered that FC Juarez had won on February 17, while the senior teams played on February 18.

Juma took Betika to court after they refused to pay him the jackpot he won from an eight-game Sababisha bet. Juma and his brother had meticulously analyzed the games before placing their wager and all of their predictions proved correct. However, Betika mistakenly indicated that one of the matches was not correctly predicted, leaving Juma and his brother in disbelief. The judge ordered Betika to pay the costs of the case and interest from the date the jackpot was due.

Disheartened, the gambler filed a legal complaint against Shop and Deliver Limited, trading as Betika, claiming that he had wasted time, money, and energy analyzing games, only to be let down by the company he trusted. He presented evidence of his betting slips, transaction messages, and match results to support his claim. Juma accused Betika of its culpability regarding malicious action and contract breach.

This sort of theft has happened many times in Las Vegas and it is virtually impossible to go against those casinos in court and win.
