Kalonzo Demands Ruto's Resignation Over Corruption Claims by Muturi

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has publicly called for President William Ruto's resignation amid escalating corruption allegations.
The Wiper leader cites recent claims made by former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi that question Ruto's fitness to hold office. Musyoka made these remarks at Redeemed Gospel Church in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County on Sunday. Musyoka emphasizes the seriousness of Muturi’s allegations, given his prior position within Ruto’s inner circle. He says that the country's foundation is destabilized by corruption and that Kenya’s economy is in a precarious state under the current administration.
“A former attorney General put it clearly that the foundation of the country is shaking because of corruption,” Kalonzo said, adding that the Kenya’s economy had been put in a perilous state.
Musyoka has also addressed ongoing investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) involving Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti. The EACC has recently summoned two senior county officials, Finance CECM Onesmus Kuyu and Energy Chief Officer Abdi Guliye. Kuyu, a close ally of Governor Ndeti, is reportedly under scrutiny following raids on his office and residence, while Guliye is being investigated for alleged irregularities during his time in the Water Department.
Musyoka asserts that Wiper governors, including Makueni’s Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and Kitui’s Julius Malombe, are being unfairly targeted by Ruto’s administration. He suggests that the investigations are politically motivated attempts to undermine Wiper-affiliated leadership, specifically naming Wavinya Ndeti as the primary target. Musyoka accuses Ruto of being the "reigning champion of corruption" and insists that he should resign rather than use government resources against political opponents.
"They started in Machakos to ensure they silence her. Mutula is next. Before undermining these three governors, respond to Muturi's claims that you are irredeemably corrupt,” Kalonzo told the President.
He also raises concerns about the involvement of senior security officials in political activities, specifically criticizing Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja’s presence at presidential rallies, which Musyoka deems inappropriate.
“We are telling our men and women in uniform to stick to their lane. You can’t have the IG of police campaigning for you. It doesn’t happen anywhere,” he said.
