Meru Senator Mithika Linturi Questioned for Threatening to Kill His Wife

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have questioned Meru Senator Mithika Linturi for allegedly threatening to kill his wife.
Linturi was summoned to the DCI offices in Nairobi after his wife, Maryanne Keitany filed a report on Tuesday claiming that her husband threatened to killer her during a domestic quarrel at their residence in Runda estate.
“There was a complaint of threats against life by the senator and he was summoned for questioning. Investigations are ongoing and we will act accordingly with time,” says the DCI.
Linturi is said to have drawn a firearm on his wife, who is a former Chief of Staff at Deputy President William Ruto’s office, during the argument.
Keitany says they argued about the mysterious death of their house help Edith Kananu in October, but the situation got out of hand after she insisted that police investigate her death as she suspected foul play.
“It was at that stage that he whipped out a gun and threatened to shoot me. I had to lock myself inside my bedroom waiting for things to calm down," she says in a complaint.
The politician has however denied that he was summoned for threatening to kill his wife.
“I have not been summoned to the DCI nor recorded any statement and if I am called upon, I will present myself there, You write what she (Keitany) has told you. Write everything.” Linturi told The Standard.
