Three travelers from Kenya have tested positive for coronavirus in Rwanda, the country’s Health Ministry has said.
The three are among 17 new Covid-19 cases in Rwanda, pushing the country’s total number of infections to 36.
The other new patients include nine travelers from Dubai, two from the United States, and one each from Qatar and India. The remaining one patient is the contact of a previously confirmed Covid-19 case.
Rwanda’s Health ministry said all the travelers were under isolation in a designated facility between March 17th and 20th.
All the patients are receiving treatment and are in stable condition and the government is tracking persons they may have come into contact with.
“Any Rwandans or legal residents returning to the country will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine at designated locations,” the Ministry of Health in a statement.
Rwanda is presently on partial lockdown with the closure of non-essential businesses, suspension of travel between districts and restriction of movements outside homes.
Kenya has so far confirmed 16 cases of the highly contagious infection.
