Salaries Commission Slashes President's, Governors, MPs Salaries

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has announced new salaries for various state officers including the president, his deputy, governors and MPs among others.
Under the new reviewed salaries structure released SRC Chairperson Sarah Serem on Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will take home a monthly gross of Sh1.4million and Sh1.2million respectively down from the current Sh1.650 and Sh1.40million.
Salaries of all Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) have been reduced to Sh924,000 down from Sh1.056 million, while Permanent Secretaries (PSs) will earn Sh 765,000, from current Sh874.500.
Speaker of both National Assembly and the Senate will earn a gross salary of Sh1.155 million each from the previous Sh1.32 million with their deputies taking home Sh924.000.
The leaders of Majority and Minority in both houses to will be paid Sh765,188. Member of Parliament’s gross salary will be reduced to Sh621,250 from previous Sh710,000. County Governors and their deputies will earn Sh924.000 and Sh621,250 respectively
“We have also reduced allowances and all payments going forward will be guided by state of the economy,” said Sarah.
Salaries and allowances for the 2,222 Members of the County Assembly (MCAS), 349 MPs, 67 senators, 47 governors and the President among the top earners in public service that have been affected by the new review.

you are right GG. Salaries are still too high. I also suspect that Mpigs will find away to make up for this loss.This will come in form of corruption,and doing even much less work than what their salaries warrant.If this fail, they will again vote for themselves much higher benefits...
Someone on this forum has suggested that Mpigs should only get insurance coverage,and their work should be service to the community. Well, this is a good idea,if we can elect those that are willing to volunteer these services.
The current Mpigs are not going to take that kind of revolutionary idea laying down.All in all, it comes down to what the voters want to elect.

Good start Ms Serem and commissioners. My you have another review downwards before the incoming Mpigs, MCA thieves, Senetors and governors take office and vote an increase for themselves. If they are truly about serving the Mwananchi, then they should not cry foul. Average mwananchi hardly make Sh 20,000
