Uhuru, Raila Set to Share Podium at Former MP Nyenze's Funeral

President Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga are set to share podium for the first time since the former took Oath of Office for his second and final term.
The two political rivals are expected to meet on Tuesday, at the burial of the late Kitui West Member of Parliament, Francis Nyenze in Kitui county.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi confirmed the President and Deputy President William Ruto will attend the burial ceremony of Nyenze, who served as the leader of Minority in the 11th Parliament.
Mr Nyenze passed on last week while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, after a 10-year battle with cancer of colon.
National Super Alliance co-principal and Bungoma senator Moses Wetang'ula also confirmed that opposition leaders led by Odinga and Kalonzo will also be present at the funeral.
Their meeting will come in the wake of a disputed presidential election, where Odinga has vowed not to recognise Kenyatta as President, arguing that he lacks legitimacy.
Odinga and his running mate Musyoka walked out of the race for the repeat poll ordered by the Supreme Court after invalidation of the August 8th one, citing refusal by electoral commission to undertake reforms that would guarantee a credible election.

Why does the media keep placing the Presidebnt of Kenya on the same platform with the person who lost the elections. Or is the media trying to continue politics and derail the country's development agenda. Why does the media keep dividing the country. When the elections were concluded and upheld by our supreme Court, the media should respect our institutions and stop driving their own political agenda. Even media politics as far as the candidates who lost should end there until four years when new candidates crop up.Laws need to be put in place regarding the media.

@Imbuwa I agree and we can start with Mwakilishi. At this rate nothing will ever get done. They go to funerals to politic. A little SGR, road talk here and there followed by a big talk about Mpigs salaries, KRA stalking Kenyans for more money then campaigns again, elections, then Raila stalemate and before we know it, time has passed when we start noticing white hair on us, lord have mercy.Living in a rollercoaster is not thrilling at all.

I would strongly advice the president and the dp to skip this unless they are willing to take part in a popularity contest with the likes of Muthama and Ngilu.

I disagree Njai. These two share common friends and foes. Funerals, weddings, etc... are part and parcel of living. Life goes on, why should Uhuruto not pay respect to their acquired friends and colleagues? That would be juvenile behavior. Odinga on the other hand will most likely hijack the spotlight from the deceased relatives. If I was the next of kin of the deceased, I would impose on a no politics policy on the day. Tuheshimu the departed.
