What President Uhuru Told Governor Sonko Over Igathe's Resignation

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has reportedly discussed Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe's resignation with President Kenyatta.

The Standard reports that Sonko phoned the Head of State while on his three-day tour to South Africa to inform him of the decision by Igathe.

During the conversation, President Uhuru allegedly told Sonko to avoid political side shows and focus on delivering his agenda to city residents.

“Sonko is a personal friend of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto. They talked at length. Uhuru urged Sonko to focus on service delivery,” the Standard quoted a source close to the Governor.

In a statement last Friday, Igathe cited strained relationship with his boss as the reason for his sudden exit.

“Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat as elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1pm on 31st Jan 2018. I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Admin & Management of the county,” he posted on his Twitter account.

“Without fear, favour or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians & my family. Thank you for the encouraging support given to me so far,” he added.

His resignation comes only months after the two took Oath of Office following their election on August 8th, 2017 polls.

Nairobi is neither Igathe nor Sonko. The city belongs to Kenyans.I would prefer the city to stay without deputy governor for Kenyans to learn from their zero thinking while passing the useless constitution which was only drafted to create a few millionaires but also made most Kenyans poorer.Passing such an expensive constitution was a qualification for Kenyans to be described as SITHOLES/MAVI/MAKASHIA.

Anything to save face.Sonko is no manager just a thug and this time he is in over his head.Popularity does not equate to ability. It appears this guy is difficult to work with and more importantly to work for therefore surrounding him with a team of techocrats is just a waste of time. The house of Jubilee is crumbling another result of a stolen election.
