Gunmen Fire Shots, Hurl Grenade at Kalonzo Musyoka's Residence in Karen

Detectives have commenced investigations into a reported Wednesday morning gunfire outside the residence of National Super Alliance (Nasa) principal Kalonzo Musyoka.

It is alleged that the incident occurred at Kalonzo’s Karen home at about 1am on Wednesday, though no injuries were reported.  Bomb squad officials were also deployed at Wiper party leader’s home after a grenade-like alleged to have been hurled by the unknown men was spotted in the compound.

Confirming the incident, Karen OCPD Cunningham Suiyanka said a stun grenade was discovered in the compound of Musyoka's and investigations are underway to gather more information on the incident.

“Investigation is ongoing and we hope to find leads using other means,” Suiyanka said Wednesday afternoon.

One of the security guard said that unknown gunmen in two vehicles arrived at the residence, opened fire and hurled a device into the compound before fleeing.

Addressing the press at Musyoka’s Karen home, police spokesman Charles Owino said that a live bullet and a stun grenade, which he said is non-lethal were found. “Kalonzo called our emergency line saying his home was under attack we mobilised our officers from Nairobi area and Hardy police station to visit the scene. The report we got is that two vehicles approached his home at around 1.15am. Fortunately, there were three guards from Cobra security company and their patrol car right outside his compound. Upon checking, the security officers recovered a pin for a grenade and a live bullet,” said Owino.

He added: “We have seen where the hand grenade exploded. Fortunately, it was a stun hand grenade which is not meant to harm but it just gives a loud bang and is meant to scare. This is different from the disintegrating hand grenade which normally has pellets that can kill you.”

This comes hours after Musyoka skipped the planned Nasa swearing in ceremony, where he was set to take oath of office as deputy people's president.

Speaking at the residence on Wednesday morning, Nasa co-principal Moses Wetang'ula, who was flanked by Musyoka alleged that the attack was meant to intimidate the opposition over its push for electoral justice.

“We can’t be intimidated,” Wetang'ula asserted.

Musyoka declined to comment on the incident, saying that police officers will provide answers: “There’s heavy security presence in my compound; they will tell us,” he told journalists outside his residence in Karen .

Wacha Kalonzo kapate hiyo.Ni KIONJO tu ndipo kanjue kazi ya ujangili, kifo, utanjili, kuangaia, uwete huandamana pamoja.90% of chances are negative, yaani chances of losing are higher than gaining. It might be a matter of time to see Kalonzo akiwa HOMELESS.Who could imagine "Brother in Christ" Kalonzo like a number of Kenyan pastors in US worshiping cannibal Raila na KULAMBALAMBA mukundu wake?

Wetangula, you intimidated yourselves! Stop trying to create a smoke screen to your saga. If Kalonzo was attacked, it must have been from his disappointed NASA supporters. Period. You should fear indeed, as NASARITES are hard core and only avenge by object hurling. Lakini bravo for recognizing the drama was nonsense. The lying has to stop though, I mean you and Kalonzo held a press conference on the day, seen to drive off in your car in which you were trying to shake the press off, then hours later declare you were on house arrest?! C'mon now! Just man up guys and call it for what it is.

Me thinks , now that Inauguration didn't get international attention and sympathies, NASA will do what it takes to say " their lives are in danger" and government is harassing them yada yada yada and then they will ask for dialogue for inclusion in the current government now that Canaan has come and gone with no one caring except the NASA wafuasi . Just watch this space, in coming days they will do what they do best ; go to the street singing haki yetu, secession and some other catchy bait to International community and NGOs.
